Visit Biology

Interested in a campus visit?  We would love to show you all the amazing things that Biology at Illinois has to offer.  Consider one of the following.

Prospective Freshmen Visits

Our prospective freshman programs include 2 options. Held most weekdays and select Saturdays, Daily Visits are around 2 1/2 hours in length and include an overview of Illinois, a student panel, and a campus tour. You can also request a meeting with your intended college if visiting on a weekday. Orange and Blue Days are larger, day-long open houses that also include presentations by Housing and Financial Aid, housing tours, college sessions, and a variety of optional activities.

Admitted Freshmen Visits

Our admitted freshman programs include 2 options. Held most weekdays and select Saturdays, Admitted Daily Visits are smaller in size and last about 2 1/2 hours. They include an overview of Illinois, a student panel, and a campus tour. You can also request a meeting with your college if visiting on a weekday. Admitted Student Days are larger, day-long open houses held on select dates. In addition to an overview and a student panel, you’ll choose from activities like college and departmental meetings, walk-in hours with Financial Aid and Housing, tours, and more.

Biology specific Meetings and Facility Tours

The Biology Instructional Program offers Prospective Student Appointments and Tours, during which you can meet one-on-one with an academic advisor or course coordinator. Our staff is available to answer questions about the curriculum and career options for students in Biology. To plan your visit, please call (217) 244-6239 or (217) 333-3046. If you would like a tour of our facilities or permission to sit in on a class please be sure to specifically ask for that when you call.

Tour schedules depend on staff availability and may not always be available. Prospective student visits are generally scheduled during normal university business hours and exclude university holidays and weekends. Thank you for your interest in our program. We hope to see you in Urbana soon!

Correspond with current MCB and IB Students

MCB Leaders are a small group of accomplished students in MCB who are eager to help current and prospective students learn more about the University of Illinois, the College of LAS and the Molecular and Cellular Biology major. Feel free to email these students for answers to your questions about student life at the University of Illinois.

SIBSAs (School of Integrative Biology Student Ambassadors) participate in many types of recruiting and informational events on campus to provide a student voice for Integrative Biology. SIBSAs are pursuing many different career paths but all enjoy talking about the major and helping prospective students better understand what Integrative Biology has to offer.
